How to follow up quotes and win more jobs
Short answer: most quotes go cold because nobody follows them up. A real phone call, from a person, within a day or two, wins jobs that automated texts never will. Make follow-up a role someone owns.
One of my clients won six of seven jobs in a week without spending a cent more on leads. The only thing he changed was following up his quotes with a real phone call.
Why quotes go cold
- Sent and forgotten
- Left to automated texts and emails that everyone ignores
- Silence assumed to mean they went cheaper
- Nobody actually owns the follow-up
The follow-up system
- Every quote gets a real call within a day or two.
- One person owns it. It doesn't have to be you, it just has to be someone.
- Run a simple sequence: a call, then a message, then a final call.
- Track your win rate so you know it's working.
- Ask the losses why, and learn from the answers.
Automate the admin, not the relationship
Use automation for reminders and scheduling. Use a human for the conversation that actually wins the job. Everyone's automating everything, which is exactly why a real phone call cuts through now.
Common questions
How many times should I follow up a quote?
Two or three touches is usually right: a call, a message, then a final call. Persistent without being a pest.
How soon should I follow up after sending a quote?
Within a day or two, while it's fresh. The longer you leave it, the colder it gets.
Should quote follow-up be automated?
Automate the reminders so nothing slips, but keep the actual follow-up a real conversation. A human call wins jobs an automated text never will.
